Isn’t it wonderful how devotees always have some special day to celebrate and serve Krishna? Sri Krishna Pusya Abhisek is the first major festival of the year. Srila Prabhupada explained in a letter that “Krishna was just a toy in the hands of the Gopis, so one day the Gopis decided that ‘we shall decorate Him’.
Every year on this day, the deities are bathed in hundreds of kilos of colourful and fragrant flowers in a beautiful abhisek. The deities of Sri Sri Radha Madhava are also offered a stunning dress made out of multi-coloured flowers. Each year, the flower dress has its own unique design and flower choices.
Even without going to the temple, we can celebrate this festival at home and bring pleasure to Sri Sri Radha Madhava, by offering them a flower dress. We will be sharing a picture of Radha Madhava, which you can decorate with flower petals. If you don’t have flowers at hand, you can make some paper petals from different colours and use those instead. Don’t forget, Krishna accepts the love with which we try to serve Him. He even accepted banana peels from Vidura, because he offered them with so much devotion.
